Make 2018 a year of coffee discovery

New Year's Resolutions come in many flavours. One of our very favourites is the kind which involves discovery - the decision to explore something new. From learning Italian to picking up the piano to getting to grips with breadmaking, it's the kindling of a new love which could last a lifetime.

If we may be so bold, we have a suggestion: make 2018 the year in which you truly discover coffee. With a flavour profile more complex than wine and a great wealth of origins, roast styles and brewing methods, it is a topic which becomes more delicious the deeper you explore.

Why Single Origin?

25 Oct 2016 06:31:00

Our Single Origin Coffees really demonstrate our commitment to seeking out the finest coffees from around the globe. Whether in the depths of the rainforest or clinging to the side of a mountain, the estates that grow our coffee are regularly visited by experts from our sister company Taylors of Harrogate. They work with farmers to ensure that each batch of beans is harvested, dried and roasted, bringing out the best in its unique character and quality.

Rich and smooth

25 Oct 2016 06:31:19Our Java Kalibaru has already proved a firm favourite among visitors to our Café Tea Rooms. Grown at high altitude in volcanic soils, this dark roast coffee is marvellously rich yet smooth, offering a full-bodied taste with dark chocolate flavours. Truly one of Indonesia’s finest coffees, we think it’s perfect for enjoying after dinner.

Citrus burst

Our Kenyan Karatina, on the other hand, is a lively delight. Harvested from the fertile red soils of the central Kenyan highlands and medium roasted, it’s bursting with citrus fruit flavours, balanced by a honeyed sweetness.

Lively and fruity

Our Colombian Fedar is a lively, medium-dark coffee whose butter caramel sweetness is complemented by a delicious fruity character. And our Peruvian Pangoa, a rich, medium-dark roast with hints of chocolate and almond, grown in the central Amazon by an indigenous farmers’ cooperative that’s committed to rainforest sustainability.
