Bettys Centenary Trees for Life fund awards £47,102 to Yorkshire projects
Nineteen environmental projects in Yorkshire have been awarded £47,102 from our Centenary Trees for Life Fund. The schemes include a plan to turn unloved patches of land into beautiful community gardens, a project to create an edible forest in a disadvantaged area of Bradford, and tree planting along wildlife corridors to encourage biodiversity.
The Bettys Centenary Trees for Life fund is part of our 100th birthday celebrations, and marks our long term commitment to sustainability through tree planting.
A second funding round will take place later this year and there is still time for groups to apply.
The awards aim to support groups working to improve local green spaces and wildlife habitats through tree planting projects, improved access to woodland and environmental management, and education projects. The link between accessible green space and well being is well documented so we are also interested in projects that aim to use environmental activity to promote good physical and mental health.
If you have a project that fits the bill, you can apply here via our funding partner, Two Ridings Community Foundation. The deadline is 27th August.
