Easter favourites … but not as you know them

Sometimes our curious bakers surprise even themselves. ‘What would happen,’ they wondered, ‘if we crossed a macaroon with a hot cross bun?’


That was no idle reverie. Thanks to some natty craft skills and a dash of imaginative flair, we now have the answer. And as the name suggests, our new Hot Cross Bun Macaroons combine the best parts of both.

Made from a featherlight dance of ground almonds, sugar and egg whites – a deceptively simple trio that demands a pâtissier’s craft to perfect – each one is piped with a traditional cross design. The macaroons are then sandwiched with a rich ganache containing our Swiss milk and dark chocolate and a spice mix that’s instantly recognisable as the taste of Easter.

Easter may be a time of trusted favourites, but there’s still room for a few inventive twists in our Craft Bakery. Take the Simnel cake that we’ve been baking for generations. Fear not – we’re not about to change our classic recipe that’s packed with plump sultanas, rum-soaked currants, citrus peels and Easter spices.

But if you like your treats square rather than sliced, our Simnel Fruit Cake Bites offer individual pieces of devilishly moreish temptation. Topped with toasted marzipan, they’re just as good to enjoy at home as to post to loved ones for a taste of a Bettys Easter.
