Invite spring to your table this Easter

It may not yet be warm enough for alfresco dining, but you can bring the joy of spring indoors to your Easter celebrations with these styling suggestions from Bettys ‘Head of Beautiful’ Robyn Cox, the creative mind behind our Café Tea Room window displays. With these easy but eye-catching ideas inspired by the season’s flowers, leaf buds and new life, your Easter gatherings will look and feel more delicious than ever.

1. Set the scene

Add personality and fun to your home with a pretty, seasonal table setting. Decorate tables with colourful bouquets of spring flowers such as narcissi and create texture and a sense of the outdoors with budding willow nests and fresh green moss.

Your centrepiece could either be a traditional Easter cake such as our Apostle Simnel Fruit Cake, or a festive spread created from a collection of smaller seasonal treats. We’ve used the contents of our Family Easter Gift Box for inspiration here and in the examples below, but gather up your own Easter goodies and enjoy coordinating them.

2. Bunny business

Napkin rings add a classy touch to any table setting and these charming rabbit ear ones are easy to make yourself. Cut two ear shapes from a piece of hessian cloth, followed by a strip to encircle the napkin. Use the sharpest scissors you can find, so take care if you’re making these with children.

3. An egg-cellent idea

Another easy way to bring spring colour to your table while treating guests is to simply lay an Milk Chocolate Flat Egg on each napkin. In the example we've chosen some simple crockery and linen napkins, added a pop of colour with an accent plate and scattered some additional feathers and miniature chocolate eggs around to complete the look. Add a personal touch by icing the initials or names of each guest onto the egg.

4. Branching out

Decorating your house with an Easter tree is a lovely way to celebrate the arrival of spring. It adds a splash of colour during Easter weekend, making a stylish centrepiece for your dining table, or taking the celebrations alfresco onto a patio seating area.

To make your own, collect some branches or use some artificial pussy willow and place them in a vase or ceramic jug. Decorate them with our Milk Chocolate Eggs in a Keepsake Tin and some blown or papier mâché painted eggs. If you have children, get them involved too – painting the eggs in colourful patterns is great fun.
