A new autumn style for Lady Betty Afternoon Tea
Some things about our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea are timeless. The silver cake stands and bespoke bone china from Royal Crown Derby. The finest rare teas sourced from around the world for you to discover. The setting, a table reserved in our elegant Imperial Room, Harrogate or our Belmont Room York. All waiting for you, whether it’s your first visit to Bettys or your 50th.
At times, however, we like to imagine our Lady Betty looking in the mirror and deciding to try something different. A careful tweak to her overall style – perhaps a change of lipstick shade or a dashing new hat? Or maybe it’s time to reflect the march of the seasons by revisiting a favourite enjoyed previously.
That’s how we feel about the new menu for our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea: still the quintessential afternoon tea experience, but with tempting autumn flavours, new creations and some welcome returns.
Non-Gluten Choices
We’ve made it easier for even more of you to be able to enjoy our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea, with the introduction of new options on our non-gluten containing menu. Our three open and closed sandwiches feature the same delicious fillings available on our main Lady Betty menu – Roast Yorkshire Ham and Tomato Pâté, Coronation Chicken made with free-range chicken, and classic Egg Mayonnaise – but in wheat-free wholemeal bread.

Meanwhile, our non-gluten containing savouries include a new Miniature Butternut Squash & Goat’s Cheese Frittata, made with Ribblesdale goat’s cheese, free-range eggs and cream. And the extra good news is that our Apple Caramel Macaroon, Fresh Berry Meringue and Swiss Chocolate & Raspberry Torte are also made without any gluten ingredients.
Showstoppers
We can’t help but be proud of the exquisite handmade cakes that our craft bakers dreamed up for the launch of Lady Betty Afternoon Tea last year. True showstoppers every one – and now we’re inviting that initial cast back to astound you once again.
If you’ve enjoyed our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea before, now is an ideal time to indulge yourself once again – or maybe to come on the noble mission of treating someone else to their first Bettys visit.
Seasonal flavours abound, from the Apple Caramel Macaroon sandwiched with apple pâte de fruit and caramel buttercream, to the Chocolate & Praline Slice with its layers of hazelnut crunch and praline mousse.
Indulge
The Fresh Berry Meringue, the Grand Cru Chocolate and Raspberry Square and the Miniature Battenburg – because who can resist a Battenburg? – are also back, while our dainty choux pastry Religieuse now has a filling of coffee crème Diplomat. If you were among the first to try our Lady Betty Afternoon Tea, you’ll also recognise our freshly baked and marvellously buttery sultana and lavender scones which are returning.
