Gin-gle bells: three gin cocktails that go perfectly with our treats
We don't just share a hometown with Slingsby, Harrogate's finest gin makers, we also share a love of flavour. Here are some cocktails to make the most of this match made in heaven. Or 'Yorkshire', as we sometimes call it.
Classic Ramos Gin Fizz with Orange Blossom Water
A Slingsby adaptation of a classic New Orleans-style cocktail, the grapefruit and rhubarb in the gin help cut through the viscosity of the cream giving a well-balanced flavour to the drink.
Ingredients
- 50ml Slingsby London Dry gin
- 10ml simple syrup
- 15ml lime juice
- 15ml lemon juice
- 1 egg white
- 30ml double cream
- 3 drops of orange flower water
- Topped with 30ml soda water
Method
Add Slingsby gin, sugar syrup, citrus, egg white, cream, and orange blossom to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake hard for 10 seconds. Strain into a tall glass and top with soda.
Salted Caramel Espresso Martini
An indulgent take on the classic espresso martini, using rich salted caramel sauce and cold brew coffee.
Ingredients
- 50ml Slingsby London Dry Gin
- 2tsp salted caramel sauce
- 5ml orange juice
- 5ml vanilla syrup
- 50ml cold brew coffee
Method
Begin by adding Slingsby gin, salted caramel sauce, orange juice and vanilla syrup to a cocktail shaker with lots of ice. Shake for 10 seconds and double strain over ice into a martini glass. Top the glass with cold brew coffee and crumble crushed honeycomb over the top.
Slingsby Hot Toddy
A Slingsby twist of a classic winter warmer, using grapefruit juice instead of lemon and gin instead of whisky, this creates a unique flavour profile which is similar to a classic hot toddy but has a sharp and refreshing profile. Goes perfectly with Bettys' tangy Classic Mince Pies.
Ingredients
- 50ml Slingsby London Dry Gin
- 25ml white grapefruit juice
- 25ml agave syrup or honey
- 3 cloves
- 1 star anise
- Pink grapefruit peel
Method
Add all ingredients into teacup and top with boiling water, allow the drink to stand for roughly 5 minutes and stir occasionally.
