Yet whatever the time of year, our signature loaf cakes always delight. More than just a teatime treat, these unassuming yet deliciously versatile bakes are ready to step up and be sliced at any occasion: morning nibbles, lunch with friends or as an after-dinner dessert.

With a host of loaf cake varieties to choose from, we’ve compiled a helpful guide matchmaking each one with its perfect beverage companion. Like a scarf and hat, candles and fairy lights, a comfy cushion and cosy throw, these pairings will make this time of year just that little bit more blissful.

The cake: Cranberry & Orange Cake

Pair with: Bettys Spiced Christmas Tea

Mixing tangy cranberries with orange peel, ground almonds and seasonal spices, topped with crystallised orange and dried cranberries, our Cranberry & Orange Cake is as at home adding autumn colour to your plate as it is spicing up festive teatimes. Its fruit combination goes marvellously with a warming cup of our Spiced Christmas tea, blended with fragrant lemon and orange, and mellow, warming spices.

You’ll have to act fast to get your hands on this traditional bonfire cake. This seasonal treat is dark and rich, made with fine oatmeal, sticky black treacle, and warming ground ginger. Paired with our luxurious Bettys Hot Chocolate, the treacle and chocolate marry together effortlessly, like a super-velvety autumn blanket.

The cake: Lemon & Lime Cake

This utterly irresistible and supremely moist sponge made with lemon zest and lime juice is an all-time Bettys favourite for those in the know. Coupling it with just one drink felt like an impossible task, however a natural soulmate is our traditional Earl Grey. Our finest black tea scented with natural bergamot pairs perfectly to create a citrusy delight.

The Yorkshire Tea Loaf is an all-year-round spectacular and, rather like the Fat Rascal, something of a Bettys classic. Filled with cherries and vine fruits steeped in Yorkshire Tea, it's ideal for teatime – especially when accompanied by a rich, refreshing cup of Bettys Tea Room Blend.

The cake: Stem Ginger Cake

There’s more to this ginger cake than the name suggests: we not only use pieces of stem ginger and a dash of ginger wine in the recipe, but we finish it with ginger butter frosting and crystallised ginger pieces for a true tastebud treat.
