Toast Mother’s Day with a Bettys tipple

Mother’s Day is nearly here, and if you’re planning to spend precious time with Mum, you may be looking for ideas to make her day extra-special. Perhaps you already have flowers and a cake ready. So how about raising a toast to her with a delicious Bettys-inspired cocktail?


To help you fill those empty glasses, here are three elegant yet easy-to-make cocktail recipes – plus a little extra shot – shared by the distilling experts at Harrogate Tipple. Each one uses a liqueur that you’ll find in our Harrogate Tipple box, an exclusive trio of liqueurs created in homage to iconic Bettys flavours: After Dinner Mint, Swiss Chocolate and Afternoon Tea Blend. So tell Mum to put her feet up while you mix her a cocktail, or pass her the shaker and have fun making these together.

Bettys Buck

Ginger ale and lemon juice feature in this sister cocktail to the well known ‘mule’ – with the addition of gin and mint liqueur, it certainly delivers a kick.

Ingredients

  • 30ml mint liqueur
  • 30ml lemon juice
  • 50ml gin
  • Ginger ale
  • Ice cubes
  • Sprig of mint
  • Serve in: long glass or highball
  • Method

    Fill a glass with ice cubes. Add the mint liqueur, lemon juice and gin. Top up with a refreshing ginger ale and add the sprig of mint for decoration.


    Chocolate Martini

    If Mum loves chocolate, she’ll adore this twist on the classic martini recipe. Why not spoil her some more with a luxurious box of chocolates to enjoy while sipping?

    Ingredients

  • 50ml chocolate liqueur, plus a little extra for the glass rim
  • 60ml vodka
  • Chocolate powder
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Serve in:cocktail glass
  • Method

    Wet the rim of the cocktail glass using a small amount of the chocolate liqueur, then dip and roll it in the chocolate powder. Pour the chocolate liqueur and vodka into a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes and shake vigorously. Strain into your prepared glass.


    G & Tea

    It wouldn’t be Bettys without afternoon tea, would it? Although you could always treat Mum to the real experience, too.

    Ingredients

  • 60ml tea liqueur
  • Small bottle of tonic water
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 fresh strawberries
  • Slice of orange
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Sprig of mint
  • Serve in:tall glass
  • Method

    Half fill the glass with ice. Slice the strawberries, then add to the glass along with the orange slice. Add the tea liqueur then stir. Finish by pouring the tonic water over. Add a dash of lemon juice, stir again and place the sprig of mint to garnish.


    After Eight Shot

    Like our Lady Betty Peppermint Creams, this indulgent chocolate-mint shot makes a wonderful end to dinner.

    Ingredients

  • 15ml mint liqueur
  • 15ml chocolate liqueur
  • 15ml vodka
  • Ice cubes
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Serve in:shot glass
  • Method

    Fill the shaker with ice cubes. Add all the ingredients and shake vigorously, then strain into a shot glass.
